1st green hotel in Indonesia

Go Green
The hippest new hotel in Surabaya goes green: TS Suites is collaborating with Yayasan Tanam Pohon Indonesia (www.onemilliontrees.org) to plant a tree for every room night sold. So one room at a time the hotel is making a positive impact on the environment in Surabaya, making it the first truly 'Green' hotel in Indonesia. Indonesia has the highest rate of deforestation in the world and only when individuals take a stand can this global problem be tackled head on.

Randolph Bubu, owner of TS Suites and Karl Waelti, CEO of the Core Hospitality International was the force behind making this happen. Karl is a XL member based in Indonesia with 32 years in the hospitality industry and a professional hotelier. His passion is to educate and train staff for the Hospitality & Tourism Industries in the region. The mission of the company is "It’s the extra thought that makes the difference" and this is a vibrant aspect of all that the company and its managed hotels follow. In fact, all employees of the hotels managed by the Core Hospitality Group have to sign on the mission statement after they have understood and are in agreeitesh ment.

Hitesh Chhaya, Chairman of Yayasan Tanam Pohon Indonesia, said: “ TS Suites is in alignment with the Yayasan’s goal to create awareness of climate change and its implications, and their 'Green Rooms' is an effort to raise awareness about our individual responsibility in planting trees. Every minute, we are losing one football-field-size of rainforest, accelerating the process of global warming. From draughts to flooding, the effects of climate change are enormous and immediate, making global warming a pressing concern for the world community to address. I am so thrilled to see Core Hospitality International's effort to take part in fighting global warming.” The trees will be planted in Surabaya in lots of 1000 trees by the staff of the hotel. Information about YTPI will be available in each room and at the reception.

Karl says "In a competitive environment we need winners to work for us. We need people who do not just see it as a only a job. Our mission helps everybody to understand that to be successful we must not only concentrate to make money but to do things better and different[ly]. Only then we are recognized and then the money will come as a result of the difference we have created. We want to be better than best." He stresses that a hotel is a place of fun, joy and pleasure not merely for the guests but also for all the staff.

The TS Suites in Surabaya is located Jl. Hayam Wuruk No.6 Surabaya.
